Road traffic accident

Road traffic accident occurs when a vehicle that is moving along a roadway collides with another vehicle or object.

Traumatic brain injury related to road traffic accidents poses a major challenge in resource-poor settings within Guinea.

Prolonged hospital stay and higher in-hospital mortality was associated with longer time interval between accident and hospital arrival. This delay is attributed to inadequate condition of intercity roads and lack of emergency medical services 1).

In total, 28 epidemiological studies on TBI from 16 European countries were identified in the literature. A great variation was found in case definitions and case ascertainment between studies. Falls and road traffic accidents (RTA) were the two most frequent causes of TBI, with falls being reported more frequently than RTA 2).
