cerebellar_angioma

Since the first successful excision of a cerebellar angioma accomplished by OLIVECRONA and RIIVES in 1948 , an increasing number have been reported.

Angiomas of the cerebellum and brain stem are fed by the vertebro-basilar system. However distal angiomas of the posterior cerebral artery must be excluded because they belong to the supra-tentorial angiomas, and their therapeutic problems are very different. The distal angiomas of the posterior choroidal artery must also be excluded (thalamic or intra-ventricular angiomas). But it seems necessary to keep in this study angiomas fed by proximal branches of the posterior choroidal artery and small branches of the first portion of the posterior cerebral artery or mesencephalic artery (quadrigeminal plates and mesencephalic angiomas, and aneurysms of the vein of Galen).
