Olfactory groove meningioma classification

see also Anterior cranial fossa meningioma classification

The classification includes:

Small Olfactory groove meningioma (0–2 cm in diameter)

Medium (2–4 cm diameter)

Large (4–6 cm diameter)

Giant Olfactory Groove Meningioma (>6 cm in diameter).

The extent of perilesional edema was assessed by evaluation of axial fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) MRI and scored using a devised system. Perilesional edema scores of 3 and 4 corresponded to a characteristic radiological appearance of edema, which we term the ‘ sabre-tooth ’ sign due to its triangular shape

Score Description of perilesional oedema 0 no edema

1 edema involving less than half of frontal white matter

2 edema confined to but involving more than half of frontal white matter

3 edema entering into lateral white matter tracts of external capsule

4 edema extending posteriorly within the external capsule 1).
